CATCH THE DREAM MISSION TRIP UPDATE

We had another very successful mission trip.  We raised over $18,000 with all of our fund raisers, deposits from our missionaries and grants. We spent over $1200 on food, over $800 on gas (which was reimbursed by a generous donor), approx. $500 on lumber, over $1300 on rental vans, spent over $450 on a new stove (the one they had would cost too much money to repair), and approximately $250 on misc. items. The airfare cost over $6700 and two of our team of 16 bought their own airline tickets. Our teens and adult workers did a magnificent job with Bible School, cooking, and the work projects. Many of the same Native Americans who attended our VBS four years ago came back again this year, and boy they did they grow up.

Work projects included fixing the roof on Andrew’s house, putting up and painting inside walls of the Amphitheater (a group from California had already put up outside walls), We repaired the wood around the sand volleyball court, built new steps at the side door of the church, and stained the shed.

At Vacation Bible School we averaged 40 students a day and 16 helpers(smaller than in years past, but just as successful). We fed the Indians lunch every day, and on Thursday some came back for a barbecue and a bon fire. We cooked smores’, took lots of pictures and Royce shot off fireworks to end the evening. We were able to spend Wednesday afternoon at Chaco Canyon to see the ruins left by the Pueblo Indians. There was a very long drive on a very bumpy dirt road to get there, but it was worth the drive. On Friday afternoon Royce took us on a ride around Angel Peak. The view was beautiful, just like a mini grand canyon. Thank you to all who gave, helped raise funds, prayed, donated items, helped plan, and sacrificed time energy, effort, and talents to labor for the Lord. Only eternity will determine what was accomplished for the Lord with “Catch the Dream!”

Our missionaries, their families, and anyone else who would like to see what went on during the week (especially those who have gone an any of our mission trips in the past) are invited to join us on Sunday evening September 14th at 6:00 P.M. to watch the slide show. Bring a snack to share and join us in the Fellowship Hall.
